The race for the League Two title was always going to go through plenty of twists and turns before it reached its destination, but for MK Dons fans they will be hoping there is plenty more to come as their recent form has left them off the pace. This weekend they have the opportunity to start to put things right as they make the trip to face off against a Grimsby Town side who are desperate to end their recent poor form.

Grimsby Town’s torrid run continued with a 3-0 rout at Forest Green Rovers and they have now lost in each of their last five outings in all competitions. The bad news does not stop there either, as the Mariners have not only lost in those matches, but they have also failed to score in each of those matches. It is all quite the turnaround in form as, prior to this streak of defeats, Grimsby had previously won seven of their last nine outings and put some healthy distance between themselves and the drop zone.

MK Dons continue to drop down the table and are now in fifth spot after their 1-0 loss at home to Crewe Alexandra last weekend. The Dons will be extremely disappointed with their recent showings as, prior to this dip in form, they were going toe to toe with Lincoln City in a battle for the League Two title. The Dons may have the second best defensive record in the division with just 24 goals conceded so far this season, but their last five league matches have seen them concede a disappointing 10 times, a record which will have to be addressed if they are to return to form.

The visitors may not be at their best at the moment, but the form of their hosts is hard to ignore and makes an away win look like the most likely outcome. When you also consider that they also have a strong record in the head to head between these two sides, then it makes it pretty clear that backing MK Dons to earn the three points is the way to go.
