Grimsby Town vs Port Vale Predictions

Two well known foes fighting against each other once again is not exactly headline news in the football world, but when you throw in that both sides have started well following a few seasons of expectations not quite being met, then perhaps there is a little more to be interested in than you first thought. That is exactly the situation at Blundell Park this weekend as Grimsby Town welcome a Port Vale side who are yet to suffer defeat in their four games in League Two so far this season.

Grimsby Town were not exactly picked as ones to watch in the division this season as most people expected them to be too good to go down, but not quite at the level required to push any further than a lower end of the table finish. Whilst that may still prove to be the case, they have at least started the season well and a 2-0 win against Morecambe on the opening day has been followed by credible points against promotion chasing Bradford and Colchester.

John Askey’s Port Vale picked up an impressive 2-1 win over Forest Green Rovers at Vale Park midweek, thanks to goals from Richie Bennett and David Amoo, and that result caps what has also been a strong start to the season. The visitors may be frustrated that they had to settle for a point in each of their previous three league matches prior to Tuesday’s win, but they will take pride in the fact that the ‘L’ column remains empty for the time being.

Both of these sides are confident thanks to their good form of late and that should bring with it a pretty attacking game plan. Given that both teams have scored in every game Port Vale have played so far this season and that their hosts have also seen both teams scoring on a fairly regular basis, we think that backing them both to find the back of the net once more is the way to go in this fixture.
