Grindavik vs Breidablik Predictions

Grindavik moved top of the Urvalsdeild last time out with a 2-1 victory over Fylkir, but can they follow that up by claiming all three points in Saturday’s home meeting with Breidablik? The hosts are averaging two points per game so far, which has been enough to put them two points clear at the top of the table, but they’re still not expected to come out on top in this clash. Can they upset the odds and keep their place at the summit of Iceland’s top tier, or will this be a set back for the leaders?

Their win over Fylkir on Monday continued Grindavik’s impressive record. They lost their opening game to FH, but they’re on a six game unbeaten run ahead of this meeting on Saturday. The visitors had led the way going in to the last round of games, but things have been going downhill for them of late. Despite their good start, is this set to be another set back for Breidablik?

Neither of these teams were close to the top of the standings in 2017, when the hosts edged out this weekend’s opponents in to fifth place. They’re aiming for a stronger run this time around, but it’s going to be tough for the hosts to pick up their first Urvalsdeild title. That doesn’t mean they won’t hang on to top spot for another weekend, as there’s plenty for Grindavik to be confident about going in to this encounter.

Back to back home wins have boosted their home form, as they’ve now won four of their last six at this ground. They’ve lost just once in eight home league games, and we see Grindavik building on that form come Saturday. They’ve surely got a chance based on Breidablik’s issues on the road, which really hurt them last term. The visitors lost three and drew one of five trips to sides above them. They also won just twice home and away against the top seven last season, so this is likely to be a difficult trip.

Breidablik have carried on that form this season, with a loss and a draw from their last two trips. They make this trip having lost back to back league games, while they’re without a win in four matches in the Urvalsdeild. With that in mind, we think there’s great value in backing Grindavik to continue their unbeaten run. We’re backing the hosts on the double chance market here, along with a 2-1 home win.
