Guabira vs CSD Macara Predictions

Friday’s Copa Sudamericana first round, second leg action sees Bolivians Guabira and Ecuadorians Macara doing battle once again. The visitors will be looking to build on the 2-1 lead they established in the first leg.

On the face of it, a one goal margin defeat with an away goal scored wasn’t the worst of results for Guabira in the first leg, but they’ve still got a huge amount of work to do if they are to avoid crashing out at the very stage they exited the Sudamericana last season. A club with very little continental pedigree, the Bolivians were always unlikely to make any waves in the competition and they already find themselves fighting for their continental lives.

In normal circumstances, Guabira would be in a reasonably strong position with the scoreline the way it is, but in their current form, it’s extremely hard to see a way back for them. Indeed, performances have been highly underwhelming for quite some time now and the side come into this match having won just 2 of their last 16 matches, leaving confidence very low.

Meanwhile, Macara dominated the first leg and deservedly came from behind to win but will still be left regretting the early goal they conceded that’s put them in a somewhat complicated position. Nonetheless, having been so superior to Guabira in said match, the Ecuadorians will be confident in seeing the job through on Friday.

Macara are in very good form at the moment and that has their prospects looking bright ahead of kick off. The team are functioning well as a unit and proving a very difficult team to beat, currently unbeaten in 6, and with 4 of said matches having been won, there’s real momentum behind the visitors right now.

Ultimately, whilst Macara are unlikely to go too far in the competition this year, they were expected to win this tie relatively comfortably and should still do so. Man for man, they’re a better outfit than the hosts and there looks to be no way back for Guabira given the poor form they’re in.

All things considered, we really like the look of backing Macara on the Draw No Bet line and think it provides excellent value at current prices. They’re also unbeaten in 4 away games and whilst at worst they shouldn’t lose this match, we envisage them edging it by a 1-0 margin of victory.
