      Guingamp vs Angers Predictions

Stephane Moulin’s Angers have recently picked up an impressive run of form with consecutive wins over Dijon, Strasbourg and Nice. The latter was the most impressive as they smashed les Aiglons 3-0 at home, despite having just 27% of the possession. They were extremely clinical with their chances as they managed four shots on target but it was really just an emphasis of the fantastic work the team have been doing over the past month.

This has brought them up to 12th in the table and they have managed to really separate themselves from the relegation conversation. They have the 7th best defensive record in the league with 28 goals conceded after 25 games; they have kept six clean sheets in their last ten league games. Their attack has been pretty average but with six goals in their last three games, it looks like the team have turned a corner and are now on the up. They have a great chance to make it four wins on the bounce here.

Guingamp have won none of their last seven matches against Ligue 1 opposition, with a penalty victory over Monaco being a slight highlight in this pretty poor run of fixtures. To be fair to them, they have had a pretty tough run of results with Lille, Reims and Lyon twice all facing them in the last month. They faced a more beatable opponent in midweek as they played Bordeaux. Guingamp held their own with seven corners and four shots on target ,despite having just 41% of the possession.

Fans will hope that Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side can push on from this result but they have scored just one goal in their last five league games. Three of their last four defeats have been by a one goal margin, which shows there is some quality in this team but can they show that against Angers?

Guingamp managed to show some of their true colours in midweek but with them facing an extremely in form Angers side, we doubt they’ll pick up their first league win since the 16th of January. Guingamp have only won three of their last 17 home games, two of them being via penalties. Even though Angers aren’t great on the road, they have won each of their last three matches and are playing with a lot of confidence at the moment, which we feel will be enough to take them over the line. These teams last met in October when it finished 0-0 and we think it will be similarly close here. Guingamp did well to keep the scores low against Reims and Bordeaux and they should do that again at home, but with Angers looking great at the back, we’re backing the away side to nick a 1-0 win.
