      Guingamp vs Lille Predictions

Christophe Galtier’s Lille side have been fantastic this year with them sitting 2nd ten points off of PSG despite finishing last season just one point above the relegation zone. It has been a fantastic change in fortunes for Lille and one that has been fully merited. They have won eight of their last eleven matches with big wins over Nice, Marseille and Montpellier coming in this run of games. They lost in midweek against Rennes in the Coupe de France (1-2) but they have generally been very impressive indeed.

One of the main factors for their success this season has been their scintillating attack of Ikone, Bamba, Leao and Pepe. The quartet have bene strumming a beautiful tune this year and have scored 32 goals between them this season. Operating as the front four in a 4-2-3-1 formation, few teams have been able to keep up with their rapid attacks and as a result they have scored 13 goals in their last six matches. Their defence has slightly held them back this year with them keeping just one clean sheet in their last seven league games. Can they manage to keep it tight against Guingamp or will the bottom club muster up a fantastic result?

Guingamp have been very frustrating to watch this season as recently they have been able to come up with some fantastic performances such as their wins over PSG (2-1) and Rennes (2-1) but these have usually been backed up by rather soggy losses against Reims (0-1) and Amiens (1-2).

They are winless in their last three games and have put together a pretty horrid home record of just one win in their last 15 games at the Stade du Roudourou. It really hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for them and we think this should continue against Lille.

Lille thrashed Guingamp 3-0 when these teams last met in August. Guingamp got a pretty solid result in midweek as they narrowly lost 2-1 to Lyon but with them conceding 11 shots on target, we hold out little hope for them in this game. Lille would have won their game against Rennes on Wednesday if it hadn’t been for Adama Soumaoro’s red card and we think they’ll take out their anger on Guingamp. Apart from the Rennes result, they have won each of their last five away games and with Guingamp horrible at home, we’re backing Lille to win 3-1. Les Dogues aren’t great at the back and with Guingamp scoring in seven of their last ten games, we’re backing the basement side to get on the scoresheet. Nicolas Pepe has scored five goals in his last five games so we expect he’ll get amongst the goals here.
