Guiseley vs Cambridge United Predictions

It is that time of year again as people all over England are preparing for the FA Cup to sprinkle some magic on their local sides for the FA Cup first round. In a competition famed for the giant killings it has produced in the past, this Sunday sees Guiseley of the National League North face off against a side who are two divisions above them as they welcome Cambridge United at Nethermoor Park.

The hosts have not exactly had the perfect preparations heading into this clash as they come into this match having failed to win in each of their previous four outings. Last time out they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Ashton United, and that lack of goals which is something which has plagued them of late as they have managed to find the back of the net just once in those same four matches. In fact, the lack of goals is something which is a common theme of their season and this is evidenced perfectly by the fact that they have managed to score just 17 times in 16 National League North matches.

Making the trip to Nethermoor Park is a Cambridge United side who have had plenty of troubles of their own this season. Despite their troubles, the League Two side come into this match in pretty confident mood as they have won each of their previous three outings. Given that they are also not known for their capability to find the back of the net, what has been particularly impressive about those three wins is that they have managed to accomplish this without conceding a single goal.

The hosts will be hoping that some FA Cup magic is in the air as they bid to upset the odds on Sunday, however their visitors are the favourites and for our money, this tag is well earned. However, we think that the style of football displayed by both these sides is a key factor and the lack of goals in both of these teams leads us to believe backing ‘Both Teams to Score – No’ represents the best opportunity of a decent return in this fixture.
