      Hamilton vs Dundee Predictions

Hamilton have had an awful season so far with just four wins from 23 matches. This has very much continued in line with manager Martin Canning’s record as coach as he only has a 24% win ratio across his nearly 200 games at the club. As a result, chairman Allan Maitland sacked the ex-defender on Tuesday with St. Mirren assistant manager Brian Rice named as his successor. The club has clearly made this decision with this upcoming game in mind given the gravity of it in terms of their campaign. Hamilton are currently in their longest stay in the Scottish top flight in their history and don’t plan on stopping that just yet.

Brian Rice will take charge of this match with help from assistant manager Guillaume Beuzelin and academy head George Cairns but they have a lot to clean up. The Accies are winless in their last nine matches, with eight losses in that time making it such a poor run of form. Hamilton have the worst goal difference with -35 and have the second worst home record in the league with just seven points collected from a possible 33. Hamilton face Dundee who have only won three matches this season but two of them were against the Accies so Rice, Beuzelin and Cairns have quite the job on their hands.

Dundee are no strangers to playing Hamilton as both sides got promoted into the top flight in 2014 and have been rivals ever since but they won’t hold back in going for the jugular as these matches are generally rather exciting with two red cards, 31 yellows, one missed penalty and four goals scored past the 80th minute in the last five clashes. Dundee are also right in amongst it at the lower reaches of the table with just 13 points after 23 matches and they’ll be looking to take advantage of the Accies’ predicament.

They have been marginally better than Hamilton in the league as they miraculously beat Hearts at Tynecastle just over a week ago but the two results since have been severely winding for Jim McIntyre’s side. Dundee were extremely poor in their defeat to 9th place Motherwell as they only managed one shot on target in the 1-0 defeat. This was followed up by a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Championship Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup. Once again, Dundee only managed one shot on target in a pitiful performance bit it will be interesting to see if they can raise their performance levels for this one.

Dundee have been horrible recently but always seem to beat Hamilton as they have won each of the last four clashes between the two sides, with the Dee scoring nine goals in the process. Hamilton will be right up for this match though and will likely raise their performance levels without the negativity of Canning in the dugout. Nevertheless, Dundee always seem to deliver against Hamilton and with the Accies losing eight of their eleven league games this season at home, we’re backing an away win. Dundee scored four when they beat Hamilton in December but we don’t see them scoring as many as this is such a crucial game for both sides. Hamilton have conceded ten goals in their last five home matches though so we’re going to back Dundee to win 2-1. The Accies haven’t scored yet this year but should get on the scoresheet after Dundee conceded three to a second-tier side on Tuesday.
