Hebei vs Jiangsu Suning Predictions

As they sit in a more than respectable 5th place, it’s fair to say that Jiangsu are having a decent campaign, though they’ll be keen to keep it that way. After losing away at Shanghai SIPG not that long ago, Sundays visitors steadied the ship by battling out a 0-0 draw, a score-line that is something of a collectors’ item in this rather defensively weak league, at home to Beijing Renhe. With that result acting as a platform from which to build, Cosmin Olăroiu’s men will be looking to regain the winning thread by beating a team below them in the table.

Hebei may be down in 9th position, but they’re only four points behind their opponents here, while they’ve started to gain results of late. The visitors come into this match having avoided defeat in each of their last three. Having followed up a win in their most recent home match with a 0-0 draw on the road, the hosts might just fancy their chances.

The Chinese Super League is known for its lack of defensive quality, which in turn sparks plenty of high-scoring games, though neither Hebei or Jiangsu offer too much going forward, so a low-scoring game may just manifest itself at Langfang Stadium on Sunday.

Hebei haven’t been so easy to beat at home this season, though they’ve not exactly been the most forthcoming team in terms of attacking play. The hosts have failed to score in 40% of their matches in front of a home crowd this season, while they currently score and concede, on average, the second lowest number of goals in the division when playing on their own patch. What’s more, only two teams in the Chinese Super League have scored less at home than Hebei.

Considering that Jiangsu are anything but the strongest side going forward, Hebei, who’ve only conceded more than once in one of their home matches during the current campaign, ought to feel confident of keeping the visitors reasonably quiet.

Going forward, Jiangsu have done OK on their travels, though they’ve rarely gone mad. In fact, since scoring three away at the worst team in the league in their first away game of the season, Sunday’s visitors have found it tough to impose themselves. They’ve failed to find the net in each of their last two on the road, while they’ve only scored more than once in one of their last five away from the comforts of home. They don’t tend to concede as many as some of the teams in this division, so it’s no surprise that ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in jut 33% of Jiangsu’s away games this season.

At the end of the day, this is a match between two of the less offensively astute teams in the division. Neither score bags of goals, so it makes plenty of sense to plump for a low-scoring game, especially at the prices.
