Helmond Sport vs FC Oss Predictions

Helmond Sport have a great home record against Oss having avoided defeat in the last ten meetings between the sides at Lavans Stadion, but that will surely come under threat on the final day of the season this Friday. Oss are already guaranteed a Play-off place but are looking to break into the top six and they are 37 points better off than the 19th placed hosts, who are simply aiming to avoid the wooden spoon.

April started poorly for Oss with a lacklustre 2-1 defeat at FC Eindhoven, however Klaas Wels side have since gone from strength to strength to secure their place in the Play-offs with a game to spare.

They have beaten both 2nd placed Sparta Rotterdam (1-4) and 3rd placed Go Ahead Eagles (1-0) in recent weeks and battled hard for a 1-0 success at home to Dordrecht on match day 37 as top scorer Huseyin Dogan rifled in his 20th goal of the campaign.

The forthcoming Play-offs look wide open this year but Oss will definitely fancy their chances based on those impressive recent results. Nonetheless, Klaas Wels’ side would dearly love to finish in the top six as it would mean that they enter May’s promotion shoot-out at the Second Round stage.

They need a win at Lavans Stadion this week to give themselves a chance of doing just that, but their fate will ultimately depend on how Den Bosch fare in their home fixture against Go Ahead Eagles. Regardless of the outcome, we can be pretty sure that Oss will be going all out for the three points in this contest and that should spell trouble for Sport.

Helmond drew 1-1 away to fellow stragglers Jong Utrecht last week to back up a rare victory at home to FC Eindhoven (2-1) on match day 36, but that form falls well short of what they will need to trouble a fired up Oss outfit here. Sport had previously lost four on the spin and they have been beaten on 23 occasions overall this term, so there’s very little to suggest that they can land a blow in this contest.

Sport are usually good for a goal however and they have managed to net in their last five league matches, so backing an Oss win with both teams to score appeals considering that Oss have only kept one clean sheet in their last eight on the road. This won’t be a walkover as Sport usually compete for long periods in games, but Oss have too much class ad can edge matters 1-2.
