Hibernian vs Dundee Predictions

  • Hibs have taken 10 points from a possible 12 against the other four sides below them in the table.
  • Dundee have lost six of their eight away fixtures.
  • Dundee have conceded a league-high 33 goals.

New beginnings at Easter Road

After just one win in nine league games, Jack Ross was sacked by his employers at Hibs with David Gray in caretaker charge. Gray began his tenure at the weekend as the Edinburgh club drew 1-1 with St Mirren to take their tally to just five points from a possible 30 through their last 10 league fixtures.

They have no win in four as hosts but well be glad to see this fixture come round as Hibs have beaten Dundee on each of the last two occasions at Easter Road. The home side have also fared well in matches this season against the sides below them. Hibs are in seventh place and have already beaten Livingston, St Johnstone and Ross County at home as well as drawing 1-1 with St Mirren. Coming up against the league’s worst defence they will sure to be confident of returning to winning ways.

Visitors struggling

Dundee managed to put together back-to-back wins at the end of November and the start of December but have lost consecutive games since and are now in 10th place having played a game more than the two teams below them.

Away from home, they have the worst record in the league with just four points from a possible 24 and have lost six of their eight league fixtures on the road. They have managed to score just five goals on their travels and two of them came on Saturday as they lost 3-2 at Ross County. They have also conceded on average over two goals per game as the away side and have the highest XGa away from home with 1.98 which is actually being outperformed.

However, given Hibs’ poor form and the fact that they have scored just 10 goals in eight home matches I’m predicting a narrow 1-0 win for the hosts here.
