Hobro vs Odense Predictions

It’s only early days in the Danish Superliga season but already this feels like a big game for both clubs. The pair currently occupy the bottom two positions with Hobro and OB holding identical records of 1 point from 4 games heading into this Saturday’s clash. The winners would leap up a few places but the losers will be rooted to the bottom and already thinking about a likely relegation battle.

Both sides ended up in the relegation round last term. That sees the bottom eight teams in the division do battle to avoid the drop and both sides managed to avoid it with relative ease. However things look like they could be tighter this term with Hobro not picking up a point until last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Horsens. They appeared to be on course for a vital win, only to concede an 86th minute goal.

Meanwhile OB’s solitary point also came via a 2-2 draw. They shared the points with SønderjyskE back on match-day two but have suffered back to back 1-0 defeats since then to quash their hopes of moving up the table. Coach Jakob Michelsen was only appointed over the summer so it’s been far from a dream start for him and they could really do with a better result here against another team that has recently made a managerial switch.

The bookies do make the visitors the slight favourites but it’s hard to really figure that one out. OB have been dreadful travellers for some time now. They’ve lost their last 4 away games in the Danish Superliga and have won none of their last 12 on their travels. None of those 4 most recent defeats have been against what you’d describe as top sides so it’s hard to see any value in backing them for the win here.

Hobro did at least pick up some results at home at the back end of last season. They won their final three home matches in the league and although they are yet to pick up a point at home this term, they have had tough matches. The only two teams they’ve hosted have been Copenhagen and Brondby, two sides that finished in the top three last year and are strongly expected to contest the title this time.

Getting a decent away point last time out will have been a boost to morale too so there could be a bit of value in going for Hobro Draw No Bet here against an out of sorts OB side.
