Holland Women vs Canada Women Predictions

Holland doubled their points tally on match-day two, as they beat a spirited Cameroon side by three goals to one. They’re guaranteed a place in the next round, though Oranje will be hoping to progress in first place. Much of the same can be said for Canada, who’ve also won each of their first two matches at this tournament.

In their opening two games, Holland were solid, though you get the feeling that they’ve held plenty back for the latter stages. Against New Zealand on match-day one, the Dutch offered a threat going forward, while they didn’t allow their opponents to create too many clear-cut openings, but they certainly didn’t dazzle. Last time out, they clicked shifted the gears slightly more in the final third, notching three times, though Sarina Wiegman-Glotzbach’s women performed as though they still had plenty left in the locker.

The same thing can be said about Canada, who’ve been effective without blowing the opposition away in their opening two games. Against Cameroon, they looked a sturdy unit, while they were also comfortable dictating possession, but Kenneth Heiner-Moller’s women lacked a cutting edge. Last time out, their forward efforts improved, as they ran all over New Zealand, though despite creating an impressive 3.58 expected goals for, a lack of end-product prevented them from handing out a real battering.

Given that both Holland and Canada have scored in 100% of their matches in France, it would be easy to fancy goals ahead of this match, though the circumstances – both teams are through and thus have no reason to go all out in this match – may prevent the fans in attendance at Stade Auguste-Delaune from witnessing a glut of goals.

At current prices, ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ makes some appeal. For all Holland are a side with lots of attacking quality, they’ve not yet hit their stride in terms of end-product, while much of the same can be said for New Zealand. In addition, both teams have shown that they’re reasonably useful at the back, as they’ve shipped just one goal between them at this tournament. Add in the fact that they’ve surrendered a combined average of 1.15 expected goals and ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ appears to have been slightly underestimated in the early betting.
