Inter Milan vs Parma Predictions
- Inter Milan have scored 12 goals in their last four Serie A games.
- Parma, meanwhile, have only kept one clean sheet in their last eight Serie B matches.
- Inter scored 12 goals in five games en route to winning the Coppa Italia last season.
- Only Serie A leaders Napoli have bettered Inter’s tally of 37 goals in the top flight this season.
Inter set for Coppa defence
Inter ended an 11-year wait for domestic cup success last season, beating rivals Juventus 4-2 in a thrilling final, and the Coppa Italia may represent their best shot at glory this campaign after an inconsistent first half of the Serie A season. Having dealt Napoli their first league defeat of the campaign on their return from the World Cup break, the Nerazzurri were pegged back in a 2-2 draw with Monza on Saturday, leaving their title hopes in doubt.
In that context, Tuesday’s clash with Parma represents an important occasion for a club expecting to claim silverware of some form this term. Simone Inzaghi’s men have – despite their defensive flaws – impressed in front of goal, netting 12 times in their last four league matches. Only Serie A leaders Napoli have bettered Inter’s tally of 37 league goals this term, and a side which plundered 12 goals in five cup ties last campaign will relish going up against a second-tier defence.
Only five Serie B sides have conceded fewer goals than Parma this season, though they have still averaged over a goal against per game in the second tier. Fabio Pecchia’s team have only managed one clean sheet in their last eight Serie B games and drew 2-2 with struggling Venezia last time out, making it difficult to see them holding firm at San Siro.
Nerazzurri to cruise through
Despite Inter’s defensive struggles, they are understandably strong favourites to beat second-tier opponents next time out, particularly given the likelihood of Inzaghi fielding a strong team to ensure cup progression.
While we’re backing Inter to beat a -1 handicap as our main selection, a 3-1 home win could represent a solid correct score prediction – the hosts have conceded nine goals across their last six matches.
