Internacional vs Sao Paulo Predictions

Sunday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees title rivals Internacional and Sao Paulo going head to head. Both sides will be looking to get their bid for the crown back on track after losing last weekend.

With 10 games left, for International to even be in contention for the title is a real achievement considering they came into the campaign as a newly promoted side. Nonetheless, currently 2nd and just 3 points behind leaders Palmeiras, Colorado are right in the title mix and will be looking for a strong end to the season to try and claim their first crown since 1979.

Whilst solid enough on their travels, there can be no doubting Odair Hellmann’s troops’ main strength lies at the Estádio José Pinheiro Borda. Internacional are still yet to lose a single home match this season and having won 10 of their 13 games contested, confidence is very high in home ranks going into Sunday’s clash.

Meanwhile, given no real hope of competing for the title at the start of the season, Sao Paulo’s work has also been impressive this year but Triclor now look to be feeling the heat at the top of the table, something they’ll be desperate to put an end to in Sunday’s match.

Diego Aguirre’s men had lead the pack just a couple of weeks ago but have not won any of their last 4 league matches. Last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to arch rivals and current leaders Palmeiras was a devastating one for the visitors and has morale low in away ranks, given they now find themselves 4 points adrift of top spot.

Ultimately, both teams can sit down and look back proudly on the respective performances they’ve produced throughout the year once it’s over, but for now, all focus can only be on gaining ground at the summit and the stakes in this match are certainly high, with any potential loser all but out of the equation.

Unfortunately for Sao Paulo, we envisage that being them and backing an Internacional win looks a good play. They’ve been simply dominant on home soil all year long and with Sao Paulo less than impressing in recent weeks, it’s hard to see them putting an end to hosts’ dominance on their own patch. It’s sure to be a tight game of few chances, but Internacional have enough about them with the backing of their fans to get over the line and we fancy them to edge the contest by 1-0 margin.,
