Ipswich to Win

Reason for tip

Ipswich suffered the embarrassment of being knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league Maidstone, but they have not lost in their last 12 Championship home matches so they should get the better of West Brom, who have won just four times on the road in the league this season

Ipswich 2-0

Reason for tip

The Baggies have failed to score in their last three league away games at Norwich, Swansea and Middlesbrough, and they could be frustrated again, so go for a 2-0 home victory.

Ipswich vs West Bromwich Albion Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in Ipswich’s last five matches.
  • West Brom have lost five of their last seven Championship away games
  • Six of the Baggies last eight league away games have featured fewer than three goals

Too many draws have hindered Ipswich

Ipswich have done well to mount a Championship promotion charge having only just returned to the second tier and while some will not be surprised to have seen the Tractor Boys stall, they are still in the thick of the hunt.

Five draws in their last eight games have allowed the doubts to sink in and seen both Leeds and Southampton move above them in the table, but they have a god chance to re-establish themselves as leaders Leicester’s nearest challengers by beating West Brom at Portman Road on Saturday.

The Baggies are one place but 11 points behind Kieran McKenna’s side and what tips the balance in their hosts’ favour is the difference in Town’s home results compared to how Albion have been doing on their travels.

Lack of away goals a worry for Albion

While Ipswich are unbeaten in their last 12 home league matches – they did suffer the indignity of losing to non-league Maidstone in the FA Cup – but West Brom have won just four of their 14 awy league matches and failed to score in their last three at Middlesbrough, Swansea and Norwich.

That will have to be addressed if they are to maintain their place in the playoff picture, but they may have to wait for another day.

So this looks a good opportunity for the boys from Suffolk to recover from last week’s 3-2 loss at Preston and claim three valuable points with a 2-0 win.
