Juventus vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

After falling at the final hurdle in the Champions League right at the end of last season, Spurs will begin preparing for the new campaign by taking on Italian giants Juventus in Singapore. This match will also be Juventus’ first of pre-season.

Juventus haven’t taken to the pitch in pre-season just yet, but they’ve had a reasonably busy summer in terms of transfers. Aaron Ramsey joined the Italian champions on a free transfer, while the Old Lady have also brought in Dutch defender Matthijs De Ligt, who is no stranger to facing Tottenham, having featured prominently in the 18/19 Champions League semi-finals. Adrien Rabiot is another high-profile addition, while Luca Pellegrini and Cristian Romero have joined from AS Roma and Genoa respectively. Club (and country) legend Gianluigi Buffon is also back.

Tottenham, who went through the entirety of the 18/19 summer window without signing a player, have also been active in the transfer market over the last few weeks. The 18/19 Champions League runners-up broke their transfer record to acquire French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, while they’ve also signed Jack Clarke from Leeds, though the former has returned to his previous club on loan.

As far as this match is concerned, there’s not a great deal to go on as neither have been in action since the end of the previous campaign. If we look at their respective records at this pre-season tournament, then it’s not overly difficult to make a case for the Italians, who’ve lost just one of their last five International Champions Cup matches. In contrast, Tottenham have won just two of their last five.

However, with this being a friendly, the first friendly that either side has played this time around, it’s easy to feel that the Italians are a bit short. For all they’ve got a slightly better record than Spurs in this competition, they have only won one of their last four in 90 minutes. Tottenham may have won just two of their last five, but they’ve avoided defeat in each of their last three ICC matches, beating two Italian sides (Roma and Milan) in the process.
