Karlsruher vs Erzgebirge Aue Predictions

Karlsruher host Aue at Wildparkstadion on Monday evening, as they look to extend an impressive unbeaten run that currently stands at eight. In contrast, the visitors go in search of a first win in four matches.

It’s been a funny old campaign for Karlsruher, who came flying out of the traps at the start of the season, winning three on the bounce. They then lost three on the spin and it started to look as if struggles were ahead for the newly promoted side, especially at the back. However, since losing to Osnabruck at the start of September, Monday’s hosts haven’t tasted defeat. They’ve not been prolific winners during that time, drawing six out of eight, but they’ve been tough to beat, that’s for sure.

Defensive solidity isn’t exactly the reason behind Karlsruher’s unbeaten run, as they’ve kept a clean sheet in just two of their last eight, while they’ve conceded two or more in three of their last four, but they’ve become very good at matching teams: keeping themselves in games and grinding out draws. Their home record (two wins, two draws and one loss) isn’t overly impressive, but again, they’re not making it easy for teams, avoiding defeat in each of their last three at Wildparkstadion.

While Karlsruher have been steady at home, Aue have struggled to put their best foot forward on the road, winning just one out of six. They’ve drawn two and lost three of the other five. Only two teams in 2. Bundesliga have accumulated fewer travelling points than Monday’s visitors.

A lack of goals has blighted Aue when playing on the road, while they’ve also struggled defensively. Six goals for in six matches isn’t terrible, but it’s nowhere near good enough considering that Dirk Schuster’s men have conceded 11. Aue have kept just one clean sheet away from home this term, while they’ve found it tough to prevent teams from creating chances. Moreover, Monday’s visitors are regularly being outshot on their travels, which is never a good thing.

In the betting, ‘Karlsruher to Win’ makes plenty of appeal. They’ve not won all that often of late, but the home efforts of the hosts have been much better than the travelling efforts of the visitors. Karlsruher have claimed an average 1.6 points at home, while the visitors have taken an average of just 0.8 on the road. The hosts are also scoring an average of 1.2 goals more per game than the away side are on their travels. All in all, this looks to be a good opportunity for Karlsruher, who’re backed to extend their unbeaten run by coming out on top.

‘Correct Score’ players are pointed in the direction of a 2-0 win for the hosts, who can claim a first home clean sheet of the season. Not only are Karlsruher scoring an average of 2.2 goals at home, but the visitors, who rank as 2. Bundesliga’s third-worst team in terms of shots for this season, have struggled offensively, scoring in just one of their last three away.
