Reason For Kilmarnock vs Dundee Betting Tips

Kilmarnock look to go back to the top of the Scottish Premiership table when they host bottom-placed Dundee at Rugby Park. Can the Dee get a positive result?

After just under three days at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, Kilmarnock were knocked off the top spot and they dropped down back into 3rd place.

Killie have managed to impress everyone in the country with their results over the last few weeks, and the club has amassed a huge 31 points in the 17 games they’ve played. However, their recent form wasn’t enough to defeat the now league leaders Celtic, who thrashed Steve Clarke’s side 5-1 last weekend in Glasgow. It was an afternoon to forget, and Celtic’s first half performance was proof that they are, by far, the best team in the country, and not even Killie were able to stop their momentum.

Clarke’s side did well nonetheless, but the four goals that they conceded in the first half would overshadow anything else they would do throughout the rest of the game. Following goals by Forrest, Édouard, Lustig and Christie, Killie came out fighting in the second half, so much so that there was even a glimmer of hope amongst the visitors, as Eamonn Brophy pulled one back for his side from the penalty spot in the early stages of the second half. Despite their goal, Killie would end up conceding yet again fifteen minutes later, as James Forrest doubled his tally.

It was an afternoon to forget for Kilmarnock supporters, but the club is still in an extremely good position going into this weekend’s fixture, and a win would see them go top once again, at least until both Rangers & Celtic play the following day.

Dundee knew when December started that they would be put under a lot of pressure, as the final month of the year would bring them a few ties of extreme importance. The Dee have finally managed to gain some traction under Jim McIntyre, and they have now gone unbeaten in their last four matches.

Last Sunday’s match was a tough one, as they hosted Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at Dens Park. Kenny Miller would prove his worth once again as the striker scored within the opening ten minutes against his old club, but controversy would strike again when Nathan Ralph was sent-off a mere ten minutes later for a foul on Candeias on the edge of the box, a foul that Andy Halliday would convert into a goal, bringing his side level.

Dundee then faced another 70 minutes of football with a player less on the field, and it seemed that Rangers would end up winning the game. But McIntyre’s side showed resilience, and they made a huge effort to thwart off any of the visitor’s attacks. Their work throughout the rest of the game had its eventual reward, and the Dee were able to hold Rangers to a draw and deny them the opportunity to go top of the Premiership table. This result could be the key to McIntyre leading his side to safety, and you can read more about that here.

This game has a lot at stake for both teams, but for completely different reasons. A win for the hosts would see them go top and pile the pressure on Celtic and Rangers, who play on Sunday, whilst Dundee are in good form and they’re looking to make it out of the relegation zone. However, Killie will have the home turf advantage, and given that it’s also an artificial pitch, then Clarke’s men should face no real problems here. We’re backing Kilmarnock to win to nil, with a final score of 2-0 for the hosts.

Head to Head

October’s fixture ended as a 2-1 win for Kilmarnock, and three of the previous five games ended as draws, with either side winning one time each.
