Kilmarnock vs St Mirren Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in all of Kilmarnock’s last five home games.
  • St Mirren have seen both teams score in three of their last four away ties.
  • The Buddies have lost 11 of their 15 matches on the road and have conceded 1.87 goals on average.

Hosts remain solid at home

Kilmarnock have entered yet another unbeaten run as they were 1-0 losers last week when they visited Hamilton. Killie have now lost three of their last four games, also drawing with Aberdeen. The club now sits seven points ahead of the drop.

Alex Dyer’s men have done quite well at home this season, where they’ve only lost four times. They’ve scored 20 times in their 15 games at Rugby Park whilst only failing to do so on just three occasions. Killie also boast the 4th best defence in the league, as they’ve conceded a mere average of a goal per game, although they’ve only kept a clean sheet six times.

Buddies out of dire straits

St Mirren came out of the relegation zone as they beat bottom-placed Hearts 1-0 in Paisley in their midweek clash. The Buddies are still close to the bottom places, but they now have a six-point cushion.

Their away form is the worst in the division, with Jim Goodwin’s side picking up just eight points all season. They’ve barely managed to score any goals, finding the back of the net an average of 0.73 times per away day. Their backline isn’t any better, as the Buddies have conceded at least once in 13 of their 15 ties on the road.

Visitors to sink again

Both teams come into this game on the back of some poor results, with St Mirren needing the points more than ever at this stage of the season. The Buddies have only avoided defeat a total of four times this season on their travels, whilst Kilmarnock have failed to lose 11 of their games at Rugby Park.

Both teams have scored in all of Killie’s last five home games as well as in three of St Mirren’s last four away days, which is good reason to back that selection. As for the final score, a 2-1 to the hosts is a good pick here as they face the worst away side in the league that concedes 1.87 times on average. The hosts also net 1.33 times on home turf whilst also letting in one goal per game.
