LA Galaxy vs New England Revolution Predictions

LA Galaxy have seemingly recovered from their poor run of form following back to back wins and sit second in the Western Conference, six-points behind local rivals LAFC. A struggling New England side, that sit second from bottom of the Eastern Conference and have won one of their last six matches in the MLS, provide the opposition on Sunday, but remain the bookmaker’s rank outsiders to win on Monday.

LA Galaxy were under the cosh for much of their trip to Kansas in midweek, but still managed to come away with all three points. The teams went in goalless at the break, but ten minutes into the second half Alvarez put Galaxy in front. Sporting KC pushed forward in search of the equaliser their play deserved, but instead Ibrahimovic settled the game with an eighty-sixth minute effort to make the final score 2-0. New England went in at the break goalless at home to DC United last weekend, but had goalkeeper Turner sent-off early in the second half. Despite being a man down, New England took the lead in the sixty-first minute through Agudelo and looked like they might hold on to all three points, until Rooney converted a last minute penalty to rescue DC United a share of the spoils.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs, and their form and performances in recent weeks, all point towards a win and a clean sheet for LA Galaxy on Monday. LA Galaxy have won four of their last six matches against New England and have fifteen more points on the board this season than their guests. LA Galaxy have won their last two matches in the MLS, while New England have lost three of their last six matches in all competitions. LA Galaxy have kept clean sheets in each of their last two matches and New England have failed to score in three of their last five matches, which is why we’re backing a 1-0 win for LA Galaxy this weekend.

Ibrahimovic moved into double figures for the season when he scored against Sporting KC last time out, while Carles Gil continues to top score for New England with four goals in his debut season. We’re confident that LA Galaxy will win to nil on Monday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0. LA Galaxy have tightened things up at the back after a poor run of form, keeping clean sheets in their last two matches, but haven’t looked as clinical in the final third as a result. New England continue to struggle in the Eastern Conference, with goals being a constant source of problems for the visitors.
