Leicester City vs Fleetwood Town Predictions

Having won each of their last two fixture, Leicester should come into this fixture feeling confident. It may have taken a second bite at the cherry for them to see off Fleetwood in the FA Cup last season, though they’ll surely fancy their chances of beating the League One team in front of a home crowd on Tuesday night.

After three matches in the Premier League, it’s fair to say that Leicester have made a pleasing start. Claude Puel’s men are looking more than useful going forward, while they’re acquitting themselves well enough at the back to get results, or at least what they’ve done so far offensively has outweighed what they’ve failed to do at the back.

Going forward, the likes of Demarai Gray and James Maddison are providing the creativity, while with Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Shinji Okazaki, the Foxes carry a goal threat. Consider this in conjunction with their recent performances and it’s not at all hard to envisage the hosts causing League One opponents plenty of problems at the back.

On top of making a pleasing start to the new campaign, Leicester competed well in this competition last time around, as they made it through three rounds before eventually losing out to Manchester United in a penalty shootout.

Fleetwood have also made a decent start to the new campaign under their fledgling manager Joey Barton. Not all of their results have been amazing, though they’ve acquitted themselves well. The Trawlermen have scored plenty of goals, and while they’ve not always defended amazing efficiently, they’ve done more than enough overall to warrant a place in the top half.

Defensively, the visitors may fear for themselves ahead of this match, especially having seen Leicester do well going forward in recent weeks, though they shouldn’t be written off as an attacking force. Joey Barton has some very capable forward players at his disposal, so the hosts will need to have their wits about them on Tuesday night.

From a betting point of view, the hosts are of course hard to oppose. Even if they make a few changes, they ought to have more than enough quality to really hurt a Fleetwood team that hasn’t always looked secure this season. That said, the visitors could also do some damage. After all, Fleetwood have found the net in each of their last three League Cup matches, one of which came against higher-level opposition.

At the prices, ‘Leicester to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ stands out. The hosts have the forward quality to hurt the visitors, while they’ve made a habit of being involved in high-scoring games in this competition in recent times. ‘Over 2.5 Goas’ has yielded a profit in three of their last four League Cup matches against lower-level teams. They’ve won three of those four.
