Lithuania vs Ukraine Predictions

Lithuania were beaten 4-1 away at Serbia in their last Euro 2020 qualifying match and have now failed to win any of their opening three matches in Group B, while Ukraine won 1-0 at home to Luxembourg last time out and top the Group with ten points from their first four games.

All of the stats point towards a win and a clean sheet for Ukraine on Saturday, with the game likely to feature under 2.5 goals and end in a 2-0 scoreline.

These two countries have played against one another eight times before and Ukraine have won five times during that period, only losing on two occasions. The visitors have also kept clean sheets in three of their last four matches against Lithuania, drawing 0-0 in 2014 and winning 4-0 in 2012 and before that 1-0 in 2007.

The current form of both sides suggests that a win is on the cards for the visitors this weekend as Lithuania have lost four of their last six matches and Ukraine are unbeaten in their last five matches, picking up three wins during that period. Lithuania have failed to score in two of their last six matches, while Ukraine have kept four clean sheets in their last five attempts, which is why we’re backing a win to nil and a final scoreline of 2-0 in favour of Ukraine.

Ukraine are yet to lose in the qualifiers and have scored eight goals and conceded one and their hosts on Saturday are yet to win in the qualifiers, scoring three goals and conceding seven. However, under 2.5 goals have been produced in two of Lithuania’s last three matches as well as in three of Ukraine’s last five, adding more weight to our prediction of a 2-0 win for Ukraine.

Ukraine have gone with a fairly inexperienced front-line in Yarmchuk and Moraes, who have 10 caps and two goals between them, and will be relying on midfielders Konoplyanka and Yarmolenko to both provide the creativity and score goals for them during the qualifiers, as the pair have netted a combined 57 international goals in 160 caps.

We’re confident that Ukraine will win to nil on Saturday and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-0. The visitors have performed very well in the qualifiers so far and are now the favourites to claim the top spot ahead of Portugal but can’t afford any slip-ups against teams like Lithuania who they should be beating both home and away. The visitors don’t boast an obvious goal-scoring threat up-front but do have lots of creativity and goals in midfield and this is where we believe this game will be won.
