Los Angeles FC vs Montreal Impact Predictions

LAFC have established themselves as the best the Western Conference has to offer so far this season, to the point where even if the teams below them win their games in hand, then the Californian club would still sit top of the table. The Eastern Conference has had a much more level start to the campaign, with all of the top teams dropping points at times and DC United and Philadelphia Union occupying the top two places on twenty-four points.

Dallas lead 1-0 at home to LAFC at halftime, despite the visitors having a penalty at the end of the half which the in form Carlos Vela missed. However, Dallas were reduced to ten-men early in the second half when Hedges got sent-off and Vela made up for his earlier miss by scoring the equaliser to salvage a point for his side ten minutes from time. Montreal Impact and New England played out a bore draw in Canada on Saturday where, despite having 60% of the overall possession, Montreal Impact only managed two shots on target compared to their guests four and didn’t deserve anything more than a point.

These two sides have only met once before, but that match and the two teams form and performances in the MLS over the last month or so, points towards an LAFC win and over 2.5 goals scored on Saturday. LAFC won and over 2.5 goals were scored the last time these two sides met, and the hosts are unbeaten in their last six matches, while their guests have lost two of their last four matches. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in two of LAFC’s and three of Montreal Impact’s last six matches. LAFC have kept three clean sheets in their last four matches and Montreal Impact have failed to score in two of their last four, which is why we are predicting a 3-0 win for LAFC this weekend.

Carlos Vela missed a penalty, but still got himself a goal last time out, putting the Mexican on fourteen league goals for the campaign, while Piatti and Taider still lead the way for Montreal Impact with three goals apiece in the MLS. We’re confident that LAFC will win and that over 2.5 goals will be scored in the process, and have predicted a final scoreline of 3-0. LAFC smashed Montreal Impact 5-3 the only previous time the pair have locked horns and the hosts have been scoring and keeping plenty of clean sheets of late, while their guests only scored four goals in their last five matches and failed to score in two of those games.
