Luton to Win

Reason for tip

Luton have won four of their last seven matches, losing just once. Huddersfield, meanwhile, have lost seven of their 10 league matches this season and been beaten on four of their last five outings. The Terriers also have the Championship’s only 100 per cent losing away record in 2022-23.

Luton 2-0

Reason for tip

Only four Championship sides can better Luton’s record of just 10 goals conceded this season, while Huddersfield have only hit the net 10 times in as many matches this term. The Hatters have won back-to-back matches to nil and look good for another shutout.

Luton vs Huddersfield Predictions

  • Huddersfield Town have lost four of their last five games, and have suffered seven defeats in 10 league matches this campaign.
  • Luton Town have posted back-to-back wins over Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.
  • The hosts have only suffered one loss in their last seven games, recording four wins.

New Terriers boss thrown in at the deep end

Mark Fotheringham made a losing start to his tenure as Huddersfield Town boss on Saturday, overseeing the Terriers’ meek 3-1 defeat at Reading. With the visitors posting a return of just seven points from 10 matches this season, Danny Schofield’s replacement will be under no illusions as to the size of his task, and Tuesday’s trip to Luton Town will represent another tough test.

Huddersfield have lost four of their last five matches, scoring just three goals during that run and conceding eight, leaving only Coventry City – who have played three games fewer than the Terriers – below them in the table. Having lost four in a row on the road, Huddersfield are also the only Championship club with a 100 per cent losing away record this term, and things may get worse before they get better for Fotheringham.

Indeed, Luton clinched back-to-back wins with a comfortable success at Hull City on Saturday, and have now won four of their last seven matches – only losing once. Only four Championship sides have conceded fewer than the Hatters’ 10 goals against this season, and a visiting side with just 10 goals in as many games this season may struggle to break through.

Hatters can continue fine run

Huddersfield’s dire run of form and the uncertainty surrounding them under a new boss makes backing Luton the obvious play for Tuesday – they appear excellent value to end a six-game winless run in head-to-head meetings.

Meanwhile, a 2-0 success for the solid hosts could beckon, piling more misery on the Yorkshire club.
