Macclesfield vs Stevenage Predictions

As the end of the season draws ever nearer, time is quickly running out for sides to earn the required points for them to achieve the required points in order to accomplish the goals they set themselves at the start of the campaign. This weekend Macclesfield Town have the opportunity to claim a vital three points in their bid for survival in the Football League as they face off against a Stevenage side who are seeing their bid for the play-offs go up in smoke.

Macclesfield Town’s bid for survival received a major shot in the arm last time out as they were able to overcome relegation rivals Yeovil Town with a 2-0 win on away soil. Prior to that result, the Silkmen had gone seven games without a win and they were starting to look down the barrel of an immediate return to the National League next season. However, that victory means that they are three points from Yeovil in 22nd and, given that they also have a game in hand on most of their rivals, they will now be confident that they can avoid the drop.

Making the trip to the Moss Rose Ground is a Stevenage side who will be feeling pretty low at the moment as they have seen their bid for a spot in the play-offs almost evaporate over the past few weeks. Despite being well placed in the top seven a few weeks ago, the visitors have managed to secure just one win in their previous seven outings and, even if they are to turn the form book on its head, they still have a five point gap to overturn.

Macclesfield will go into this match with a new found confidence following their victory last weekend and they will know that three points will go a long way towards their survival bid. The Silkmen have been known to leave things open at the back of late and their last six home matches have seen both sides manage to find the back of the net. This, coupled with the fact that Stevenage have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 11 matches on the road, means that we think backing both teams to score represents the best opportunity of a decent return from this fixture.
