Malaga vs Las Palmas Predictions

It’s hard to make a strong case for either of these teams in this game. Malaga are in an awful run of form, while Las Palmas are fairly hopeless on the road so something has to give here. Judging by their recent form, there seems a good chance that at least one of these sides will fail to net.

Las Palmas do have some decent attacking players but if anything, the January additions of Jese and Alen Halilovic seem to have unsettled them and they come into this game following back-to-back 1-0 defeats in La Liga. That includes a loss at Granada, who’d only won once previously all season. They do really struggle away from home, with 70% of their away games this term ending in defeat in La Liga. They’ve netted only one goal in their last 5 away matches which is a big concern coming into this and it suggests there is a good chance Malaga will be able to keep a clean sheet that could propel them to a rare win.

The hosts look the more likely victors, having put in an improved display to draw at Villarreal last weekend. However, they are a bit short on options up front with top scorer Sandro Ramirez still missing. They’ve only scored 3 goals in their last 5 matches and Marcelo Romero is still to taste victory, having taken charge at the end of 2016 so there is pressure on the Uruguayan to turn things around and fast with Malaga having failed to win any of their last 11 matches in all competitions.

While these two sides have tended to be involved in a few high-scoring games this term, their recent outings have been much lower scoring so the overall season stats don’t necessarily tell the whole picture here. With Malaga having failed to score in their last two home games and Las Palmas having failed to net in 4 of their last 5 away, there stands a high chance at least one of these sides will draw blank again here.

Therefore, backing Both Teams to Score – No at 19/20 could be a decent bet in this one, with neither side boasting any players in genuinely good touch in front of goal.
