Mallorca eying the top half

It’s over ten years since Mallorca last finished in the top half of La Liga, but what looks like a strong climax to the season, including a run of six wins in ten homes games, has them looking up the table.

Javier Aguirre’s side have generally been pretty strong defensively during that run, although both teams have netted in three of the last five, as well as six of their previous ten outings at all venues.

Indeed, they have only kept two clean sheets in their last 11 matches, but equally have failed to score in only three of the last ten.

Bilbao keen to bounce back

Athletic Bilbao meanwhile suffered a potentially damaging 1-0 defeat at home to Sevilla last time out, which was the first time they had failed to score in five outings.

They are particularly potent on the road, netting at least twice in their last three games, all of which have seen both teams score.

Both teams have also netted in four of their previous seven outings across all competitions, so Ernesto Valverde’s side are struggling defensively, even if they have the other end of the field sorted out.
