      Manchester United vs Cardiff Predictions

It’s been a strange old season for Manchester United fans. First came the endless frustration of Jose Mourinho’s reign, followed swiftly by jubilation as interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemingly turned the club around overnight, and finally a sink back into poor form after Solskjaer was offered a permanent deal. One thing is certain though: The Red Devils need a major overhaul if they are to get anywhere near the top of the table in the next few years.

Last weekend their hopes of a top four finish died as they struggled their way to a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield, making it four league games without a win and with just two wins in their last eight top flight appearances.

Manchester United’s capitulation over the last couple of months has brought almost every player in the squad under fire in one way or another. Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial in particular have been singled out for criticism, and even perennial favourite David De Gea has been questioned after a string of mistakes. Victory on Sunday wouldn’t solve this crisis, but they will be keen to end the campaign on some sort of a high.

Cardiff have had it worse though. The Bluebirds were favourites for the drop at the start of the season after their surprise promotion last year, but they managed to hold out until the penultimate round of fixtures. Unfortunately for them, a 3-2 defeat at home to Crystal Palace finally sealed their fate, also making it six defeats from their last seven league matches.

Sometimes, these meaningless final games of the season can throw up some crackers as teams look to put on a show for their fans. We’re not expecting that in this case though. Both Manchester United and Cardiff look utterly hopeless going forward at the moment, with the hosts scoring just five goals in their last six games and Cardiff failing to find the net in four of their last six.

Manchester United have seen fewer than three goals in four of their last eight league games, and Cardiff’s last five away from home have all ended with fewer than three goals in total. Given the prices, backing Under 2.5 Goals on Sunday looks an absolutely incredible price, so we’re backing that along with a 1-0 win for the hosts.
