Manchester United vs Real Madrid Predictions

Concerning signs are continuing to mount up at Manchester United, and despite the season not even starting for another two weeks, manager Jose Mourinho is already the favourite to be the first manager to be left without a job this season.

Their most recent failure was on Saturday as they faced arch rivals Liverpool in the International Champions Cup. Sadio Mane’s first half penalty put the Red Devils behind, but a stunning free kick from youngster Andreas Pereira levelled the scores just minutes later. The second half saw Mourinho’s makeshift side fall apart though, conceding three goals in 15 minutes to lose the game 4-1.

In fairness to Manchester United, the difference in squad quality was evident. Liverpool had the majority of their first team lineup available to them, whilst Manchester United had a makeshift back line consisting of Axel Tuanzebe, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, and late stand-in Eric Bailly. Ander Herrera was the only truly first choice midfielder, with Juan Mata and Alexis Sanchez making up the attack.

More worrying is the dressing down that Mourinho gave his team in the post match press conference. His endless harrying of his own players simply doesn’t seem to be doing the job he expected, and Manchester United are now without a win in all four of their pre-season games so far.

For Real Madrid, this game marks the very beginning of a new era. Julen Lopetegui has taken the helm at the Bernabeu in controversial circumstances, but the former Spain boss will be the first Real Madrid manager in nine years to do so without Cristiano Ronaldo to call upon. The Portugal captain left for Juventus in the summer, and that is a huge hole to fill for them.

Unlike their opponents, Real Madrid have brought a very strong squad with them to the United States. New signings Vinicius Junior and Alvaro Odriozola are expected to make their debuts, whilst big guns such as Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Isco, Lucas Vasquez, Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos, and Keylor Navas are all available.

Neither side will be taking the result of this match overly seriously, but you get the feeling that the quality of Real Madrid will prevail. This Manchester United touring squad seem bereft of confidence and come up against some of the best players in the world on Tuesday night, and Lopetegui will be keen to get his reign off to a winning start. We’re backing a Real Madrid win here along with a 3-1 correct score predictions.
