Mansfield Town vs Morecambe Predictions

Although we may only be going into the second matchday of the League Two season, already sides are comparing how they have started against their expectations for this season as they will all know that a strong start to the season will provide a perfect platform to build from. Two sides with contrasting ambitions go face to face at the One Call Stadium this weekend as promotion hopefuls Mansfield Town welcome a Morecambe side who know that if they are to accomplish survival in the Football League this season then it will be mission accomplished.

Mansfield Town were well fancied by many punters to do well this season so it should be no surprise to see them among the favourites to lift the League Two title at the end of the campaign. However, the Stags will need to improve on the showing they put in on the opening game of the season as they were held to a 2-2 draw with fellow promotion hopefuls, Newport County. Despite the disappointing result, the hosts will be pleased with the fight they displayed as they overturned a two goal deficit to earn a point in the second half.

It seems like at the start of the season Morecambe are tipped by many to finally suffer what is seemingly their inevitable drop into the National League, but the perennial strugglers have time and time again proven that they are well up for the fight and to secure their place in the Football League for another season. However, an opening day defeat against a Grimsby Town side who are not exactly well fancied means that the Shrimps have their work cut out for them to get off to what would be considered a strong start to the campaign and it cranks the pressure up on this fixture a notch or two.

It appears complacency is the only thing which will stand in the way of a routine Mansfield win in this fixture and they will be hopeful they are able to continue what was an excellent home record last season. The Stags confidence in their ability to get the three points will only be boosted by their impressive form in the head to head between these two sides, so backing a home win appears to be a pretty safe place to punt in this fixture.
