Millwall vs Bury Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Millwall were never expected to challenge the might of Premier League Tottenham in their FA Cup quarter-final and they were rightly beaten 6-0. But, now back in the familiar surroundings of League One, the Lions can continue their push for the play-offs. However, Bury are a rejuvenated side and, coming off the back of a pleasing win during the week, could go to the Den and cause plenty of problems.

Millwall will obviously be expected to get straight back to winning ways on their own patch, but they look short enough in the betting. Bury are proving that they’re certainly no mugs and could quite easily come and get a result. Lee Clark’s men will be buoyed by their 3-0 win last time out and are fancied to cause a bit of an upset here. At 13/10, backing the visitors on the ‘Double Chance’ market really does appeal.

It’s well documented that Bury have had their defensive problems this season, but a lot of those coincided with injuries. Having had a lot of important players return to the fold over the last month or so, the visitors have definitely turned a corner and are far more competitive. They’re defending much better – three clean sheets in their last five – and, with the free-scoring James Vaughan in their ranks, there’s never really been a question over their ability to score goals.

Millwall are of course a decent side at home, especially from a defensive point of view. However, the Lions’ scoring form has certainly waned of late; they failed to score against both Chesterfield and Oldham , while they only managed one against a defensively poor Peterborough and required a 92^nd minute penalty to see of MK Dons in their last league match.

It’s fair to say the hosts haven’t exactly been convincing of late. If they’re misfiring here, an in-form Bury side could easily make them pay. After all, the visitors are no strangers to scoring goals, that’s for sure.
