Millwall vs Everton Predictions

Millwall welcome Everton to The Den on Saturday in an FA Cup 4^th Round tie, that on the surface, has the look of a potential upset.

Having lost just once in their last 6 matches, Millwall are carrying some real momentum with them into this weekend’s fixture. The Lions are still hovering dangerously close to the Championship drop zone, though there is hope that they can start to pull away from danger soon.

A huge factor in their up-turn in results of late has undoubtedly been the high number of home fixtures Millwall have played since Christmas. 4 of the Lions’ last 6 matches were contested at The Den – a venue where Millwall are notoriously tough to play against.

Millwall have been beaten only twice in their last 10 matches in front of their own supporters, and if you reach a little deeper retrospectively, you’ll see that they have lost only 6 of their last 35 competitive games on their own patch.

But while that statistical sequence might suggest that Everton face the prospect of an embarrassing Cup exit this weekend, one of Millwall’s most recent reverses at The Den should allay many of the Toffees’ fears.

Earlier in the season, a much-changed Fulham side beat Millwall 3-1 at The Den in the 3^rd Round of the Carabao Cup. The Cottagers have been one of the weakest performers in the Premier League this season, though they managed to push past the Lions with relative ease.

Everton beat Fulham 3-0 themselves this season, and while the Toffees away form has been a real worry this season (2 wins from 11 games), there should be more than enough quality in their ranks to see off their hosts this week.

The Toffees have kept only 1 clean sheet in 11 games however, so there is every chance that Millwall will register on Saturday. The Lions are used to rattling the net at The Den – they have scored in 15 of their 18 matches there since the summer.

With goals at both ends on the cards this week, and Everton expected to eventually emerge as victors, the away win & over 2.5 goal combination looks a fantastic choice for Saturday’s FA Cup clash and we see Everton coming out the right side of a 2-1 score-line in South East London.
