MK Dons vs Oldham Predictions

After falling victim to the cold weather shortly before Christmas, it has taken a while to find a space in the calendar for MK Dons and Oldham Athletic to square off. This Tuesday sees the sides finally go at it and with both sides still just about in the hunt to return back to England’s third tier at the first time of asking, it promises to be an entertaining evening for those in attendance.

For the MK Dons, the last few weeks have been ones to forget and following Saturday’s disappointing 1-0 defeat away at Grimsby, the Dons have now lost each of their last three matches. The defeat at the weekend will have been especially difficult to take as, prior to that result, their hosts were on a five match losing streak which had seen them fail to score in each of those matches. It is all quite the fall from grace for a side who, prior to this dip, were going toe to toe with Lincoln City for supremacy at the top of the division.

Making the trip to stadium:MK is an Oldham side who, at the time of writing at least, remain under the caretaker management of Peter Wild. Although Paul Scholes is widely expected to take the role at his boyhood club, the challenges he will have to overcome should he get the role are clear for all to see. However, the Latics should be a little fresher following their weekend off and, although they go into this match with back to back defeats in their last two outings, they have been solid away from home and they should fancy their chances of upsetting the odds and earning a positive result on Tuesday evening.

Although the MK Dons will be well fancied to win this one, their confidence will not be high following three defeats in a row and, after failing to score in their last two, it appears their troubles are only just beginning. When you also consider that their visitors have a solid record on their travels and a decent return of 13 points from their last eight outings, then we think that backing Oldham to either win or draw on the double chance market represents the best chance of a good return.
