Milton Keynes Dons vs Rochdale Predictions

Since losing away at Southend back in early January, everything seems to have gone wrong for a Rochdale side who were seemingly on their way to securing a place in the play-offs. Keith Hill’s team are now without a win in nine matches and are struggling somewhat, although they did manage to stop the rot slightly when securing a 3-3 draw against table-toppers Sheffield United last time out.

MK Dons are another team who’re struggling for both form and consistency and, having lost to Milwall last time out, it would be hard to fancy them with any real conviction. The bet that does stand out is ‘Both Teams to Score’. Neither of these two have necessarily been the biggest scorers of late, but both find it hard to keep clean sheets – it’s unlikely that this will change here.

It’s no lie that MK Dons have struggled quite a bit at home this season; however, they’ve scored more than their share of goals and are certainly capable in the forward areas. With 23 goals to their name at home, Robbie Neilson’s side may have failed to score in six of their 18, but they’ve found the net in five of their last six at home, only failing to do so against the extremely tight defensive unit that is Fleetwood Town. At the same time though, they’ve kept a clean sheet in just two of their last ten at home and in just three of their 18 overall at home.

On the road, from a ‘Goals Conceded’ point of view, Rochdale are in a similar position. The Dale have shipped 27 away from home this season, keeping just three clean sheets in the process. The visitors may well have failed to find the net in a rather large 50% of their away matches, but it’s hard not to fancy them getting on the score-sheet here, especially given MK Don’s defensive record both of late and overall. After all, having found the net three times against the might of Sheffield United last time out, as-well-as scoring seven in their last three matches, Rochdale will be confident of finding the net once again.

Neither team appeals as a great bet to win this match, but with two shaky defences on show, goals at both ends are fancied.
