Montreal Impact vs Columbus Crew Predictions

Columbus Crew top the Eastern Conference heading into Saturday’s trip to Canada, but their hosts Montreal Impact have kept back to back clean sheets following that 7-1 humiliation by Sporting KC. Montreal Impact play their first home game of the season this weekend after their opening six matches all took place on the road, and their fans are bound to produce a great atmosphere after having to wait so long to see their team play.

Wayne Rooney wasn’t available for DC United when they played host to Montreal Impact on Wednesday and it showed, as their Canadian guests were able to escape Washington with a point. Neither side did enough to win the game during the ninety minutes, but the point was certainly more welcomed by Montreal Impact than their hosts. A solitary first half strike from Williams proved enough for Columbus Crew to pick up another three points at home to New England, but things were made much easier for the hosts in the second half when their guests had former Wolves defender Mancienne sent-off.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs and their performances in the early stages of the season, suggests that Columbus Crew are in with a very good chance of taking something from Saturday’s match and that the most likely result is going to be a low scoring draw. Columbus Crew have only lost one of their last six matches against Montreal Impact. Montreal Impact have only won one of their last five matches, and their last two games both ended goalless. Columbus Crew have only lost one of their last six matches and have kept four clean sheets in their last six attempts, but failed to score in their last away game. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in five of Columbus Crew’s last sic matches, and with that in mind we can’t see many goals being scored in Saturday’s game either.

Piatti and Taïder joint top score for the hosts with three goals each in the MLS, while Zardes leads the way for Columbus Crew with three goals and is closely followed by Sauro on two. We’re confident that Columbus Crew will take something from this match, due to their good recent record against Montreal Impact and their form in the early stages of the season, and have backed the visitors with a double chance bet. In terms of a final score, we’ve gone with a 0-0 draw as Montreal Impact have tightened things up at the back since their thrashing at the hands of Sporting KC, while Columbus Crew have been in fine form defensively with four clean sheets in their last six matches.
