Montreal Impact vs LA Galaxy Predictions

Fans of Montreal Impact and LA Galaxy will be very disappointed with the starts their sides have made to this seasons MLS, with both clubs languishing in ninth place in their respective conferences. Leaky defences appear to be the main culprit for both sides poor form, with Montreal letting in seventeen goals in their last six matches and Galaxy conceding thirteen. Both sides have star foreign players scoring goals at the other end of the pitch, Piatti for Montreal and the enigmatic Ibrahimović for LA Galaxy, but its their defences that need to be addressed sooner rather than later.

When the two sides last went head to head in April 2017, hosts LA Galaxy claimed all three points via a comfortable 2-0 victory. The opening goal arrived in the fifteenth minute when Alessandrini was put through on goal by Boateng and made no mistake when slotting the ball past Bush in the visitors goal. Despite going behind early on Montreal remained a threat until the games turning point just before half time. Italian midfielder Donadel supposedly elbowed Galaxy midfielder Jones in the face and the referee showed the former Napoli and Fiorentina man a straight red card. Video footage suggested that their was very little contact, certainly none to the Americans face, and that Jones had purposely got his opposite number sent-off. To add insult to injury for the visitors, Jones then went on to score the winning goal in the seventy-fourth minute, much to the disgust of the travelling fans.

Neither side can claim to be in form as they head into their last encounter, with both sides losing five and winning just one of their last six MLS matches. As mentioned previously, both sides have been conceding for fun of late and we don’t envisage either keeping a clean sheet in Monday nights game. Two of the last four meetings between these two clubs have produced over 2.5 goals and three of Galaxy’s and four of Montreal’s last six league games have also witnessed at least three goals scored. We can see this game ending in a draw as neither side have been able to buy a win of late, and with three of their six meetings ending in stalemate, another draw would hardly be surprising given the equally poor standard both have been producing in recent weeks.

Veteran Argentine midfielder Piatti top scores for the Canadian hosts with five MLS goals to his name and the 33-year old looks set to top score for Montreal once again this season. Norway striker Kamara has four league goals for Galaxy so far this season, but teammate Ibrahimović is just one goal behind his teammates tally.

We’re confident that over 2.5 goals will be scored in Monday nights game as both sides have been shipping goals in recent weeks. Montreal don’t have a single clean sheet in their last six matches while Galaxy have only managed one. In terms of a final score, we believe this game will be entertaining for the neutrals and end with both teams sharing the points courtesy of a 2-2 draw.

Montreal Impact Predicted Lineup: Bush, Fanni, Raitala, Piatti, Taïder, Petrasso, Piette, Mancosu, Edwards, Silva, Jackson-Hamel.

LA Galaxy Predicted Lineup: Bingham, Cole, Ciani, Skjelvik, Steres, Alessandrini, Pontius, Carrasco, Kitchen, Ibrahimović, Kamara.
