Morecambe vs Stevenage Predictions

Any football fan will tell you that in any one season you will have periods where you feel you can take on anyone and others where you could not buy a win, but as the old saying goes, it is a marathon and not a sprint. One side who will be hoping they can end their wait for three points this weekend in order to help them avoid the drop come the end of the campaign is Morecambe, but first they have to overcome a Stevenage side who are also in desperate need of three points.

Following last weeks credible draw on the road against Exeter City, it is now five games without a win for the Shrimps and their fans will be nervously looking over their shoulder as a spot in the dreaded bottom two draws closer and closer.

Morecambe did have plenty of positives to take from their previous outing but their lack of firepower was once again on display, and although they have brought in re-inforcements this week, it remains to be seen if that will be enough to solve a problem which has dogged them all season long.

Visiting the Globe Arena on Saturday is a Stevenage side who are also not known for their prowess in front of goal and, although they managed to find the back of the net twice last time out, they still average just a goal per game in their last seven outings. The visitors also have to contend with an away record which is not exactly leading the way in the division and, although there is still time for them to change their fortunes, a mid-table finish looks firmly on the cards.

Neither one of these sides have been hitting the high notes in terms of their ability in front of goal this season, so the prospect of a high scoring affair appears to be small. When you also consider that just one of the previous five meetings between these two sides has resulted in a match with over 2.5 goals scored, we think that backing there to be less than 2.5 goals scored makes perfect sense and is the best opportunity for a decent return.
