      Moreirense vs Boavista Predictions

Both Moreirense and Boavista were knocked-out of the Taca de Portugal in midweek, but last weekend each picked up a three points in the Primeira Liga. Six points and four places separate the two teams heading into their clash at the Parque Joaquim Almeida Freitas on Saturday, and were expecting a tight and tense game between the pair.

Moreirense took the lead against Porto in midweek through Texeira, but found themselves 2-1 down after sixteen minutes thanks to goals from Felipe and Hernâni for the hosts. A late Iago Santos strike meant the teams went in level at the break, and Moreirense were certainly giving their illustrious hosts something to think about at half time. Two goals from Marega moved Porto into a commanding lead with just a minute plus stoppage time remaining, but Moreirense pushed forward and did manage to pull one goal through Heriberto Tavares to make the final score 4-3 to Porto.

Boavista’s home tie against Vitoria Setubal proved to be a much tighter and tenser affair, with just the one goal scored during the ninety minutes. The teams went in goalless at the half time interval, but Vitoria Setubal broke the deadlock four minutes into the second half through Dodô with what turned out to be the winning goal. Boavista have been struggling to create scoring opportunities and finishing off chances in recent weeks and have now failed to score in four of their last six games.

These two teams met for a pre-season friendly in July where the visitors Boavista claimed a 3-0 win despite not having shots or corners as their hosts during the ninety minutes. Moreirense won the last competitive encounter between the pair in April, winning the game with a second half strike from Neto after David Simão has missed a first half penalty for Boavista.

With three wins and three defeats from their last six matches, Moreirense head into this weekends match as the form favourites, but Boavista have proved tough to beat with just two defeats, two draws, and two wins during that same period. Pedro Nuno top scores for the hosts with three league goals so far this season, while Falcone and Lopes joint top score for Boavista with just two goals each in the Primeira Liga.

We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored in this game, and have backed the scoreline to finish 0-0. Five of the last six matches between these two clubs have produced under 2.5 goals, while three of Moreirense’s and five of Boavista’s last six matches have produced under 2.5 goals. The visitors have failed to score in four of their last six matches, but have only conceded two goals during that period which is why were backing a goalless draw.
