      NAC Breda vs Ajax Predictions

Defeat for Breda before the international break saw them slip into last place in the Eredivisie table following Groningen’s victory over Heerenveen, and the matches don’t get much tougher than Saturday’s opponents Ajax. The visitors continue to keep the pressure on league leaders PSV thanks to an impressive 7-1 win last time out away at Excelsior, but remain five points behind their arch rivals in second place.

Newly promoted Emmen ended Breda’s three game unbeaten run courtesy of a 2-0 win at De Oude Meerdijk, despite the fact the teams went in level at the break goalless. The hosts dominated their guests in all departments, ending the game with 55% of the overall possession, nine corners to the visitors one, and had sixteen shots during the ninety minutes, compared to the five Breda managed. Emmen made the breakthrough in the fifty-eighth minute through Cavlan, but didn’t confirm the three points until two minutes from time when Cavlan turned provider for Arias who made it 2-0.

Breda do carry a decent goal threat in the form of striker te Vrede who has netted five league goals so far this season, but chances are likely to be at a premium against a strong and confident Ajax defence. Tadić and Ziyech both share the top scorers mantel in the Ajax camp, with each netting seven Eredivisie goals heading into this weekends match. Veteran striker Huntelaar has chipped in with six goals and teammate Dolberg has scored five times so far, meaning Ajax have a number of regular goalscorers to call upon.

Only two of the above mentioned players managed to get their names on the scoreboard as Ajax recorded a 7-1 away at Excelsior last time out. Goals from van de Beek and Schöne saw Ajax leading 2-0 at the half time break, and just three minutes after the restart van de Beek netted his brace. Excelsior top scorer Messaoud pulled a goal back early in the second half, but Dolberg made it 4-1 in the fifty-eighth minute. An own goal from Schouten summed up the hosts afternoon, and things got worse as Ziyech made it 6-1 in the seventy-ninth minute and Brazilian David Neres wrapped up the scoring with Ajax’s seventh goal of the day with three minutes left on the clock.

There are nineteen points between the two clubs as Excelsior look set for a relegation battle this season, while Ajax are hoping to challenge PSV for the Eredivisie title. Form favours the visitors and so do the bookmakers, not to mention the head to head record which suggests Ajax will claim all three points.

We’re confident that Ajax will win to nil on Saturday, and have backed the final scoreline to read 3-0. Ajax head into the match in great form with five wins from their last five league games, while Excelsior have the joint worst form in the division after losing four and winning just one of their last five matches. Ajax have an amazing record against Breda, winning four of their last six encounters and keeping four clean sheets during that period as well.
