Nacional vs Feirense Predictions

Two struggling sides clash in the Primeira Liga on Saturday as Nacional host Feirense, and a tight and tense game is expected between the two clubs. Anyone wanting to bet on over 2.5 goals or both teams to score should probably look away now as the stats and recent history between the two clubs suggests this game is going to be low scoring and may even end goalless.

Nacional sit four points and two places above Feirense despite losing 10-0 last weekend against Benfica. Seferović and Jonas both scored a brace as Benfica ran riot over a hapless Nacional and, while teams in and around them also lost, this weekends hosts now have the worse goal difference in the Primeira Liga which could come back to haunt them at the business end of the season. Feirense lost 3-1 at home to another of the big Portuguese sides Sporting, and proved to be architects of their own downfall as an own goal from Briseño handed the Lisbon club the lead just before the break.

It’s hard to imagine either team winning on Saturday the way the two have been playing of late, and we’re certainly not expecting a flood of goals despite Nacional’s shocking 10-0 defeat. What’s more likely to happen this weekend is that the two under performing clubs will cancel each other out and the game will end in a draw, and most likely a goalless one at that. Four of the last seven encounters between the pair have ended in stalemate, and three of those haven’t featured any goals. Both teams have failed to win any of their last six matches in the Primeira Liga and Nacional have failed to score in four of those games, while Feirense have failed to score in three of theirs. All of the above points towards a rather dull and boring 0-0 draw, but we think Nacional would take that result considering how last weekend turned out.

Honduras striker Rochez remains Nacional’s top scorer with eight goals, but hasn’t scored in any of his last five appearances for the club. Edinho has scored four league goals for Feirense so far this season, but has only netted once in his last ten appearances in all competitions. We’re confident that this game will end in a draw and have backed the final scoreline to be 0-0. Both teams are low on confidence, struggling for form, and have scored many goals of late, so it seems natural that the pair will play out a bore draw on Saturday.
