Netherlands vs France Predictions

This is France’s first match since their friendlies in November when they beat Germany but lost to England although both games were overshadowed by the terrorist attacks in Paris. They have played 16 friendlies in total since the last World Cup as they build towards Euro 2016 which they host this summer. There have also been impressive wins over Spain and Portugal but defeats against Belgium and Brazil and this will be another good test of where they are at and is likely to be their toughest match prior to their return to competitive action in the summer so Didier Deschamps will want his side to put in a performance.

The Dutch won’t be at Euro 2016 after their nightmare qualifying campaign when they failed to even make the play-offs. They took just 1 point from their 6 games against Iceland, Czech Republic and Turkey and are very much faced with a rebuilding job ahead of World Cup qualifying which starts later this year. 2 goals from Arjen Robben helped them to a morale-boosting 3-2 win in Wales in their last match in November and they’ll be hoping to salvage a little more pride here.

That won’t be easy though as this French squad is packed with quality while the Dutch are missing the likes of Robben and Van Persie. Even so goals seem likely here. There have been over 2.5 goals in all of Holland’s last 4 internationals with defensive problems reoccurring again and again during qualifying. France could really punish them if they are at their best here and backing France to win 2-1 at 8/1 looks a pretty good shout here.
