New England Revolution vs Columbus Crew Predictions

New England and Columbus Crew will both be content with their opening game of the season results and performances, but the longer they do go without a win the more difficult it will be to catch the team ahead of them. New England picked up a point in Dallas and could have had more, but in the end a draw was probably a fair result. Columbus Crew were hoping to take advantage of New York RB’s involvement in the Champions League to collect three points last weekend, but the game finished all square.

Barrios picked up where he left off last season by putting Dallas in front in the thirteenth minute against New England, and that’s how the scores remained as the teams headed in at the break. The visitors always looked a threat on the counter attack and in the fifty-seventh minute Carles Gil caught the Dallas defence out, levelling the scores and earning New England a point. There was a similar story at the MAPFRE Stadium where Ivan put New York RB in front early on with a goal, only for Columbus Crew to equalise through Sauro before the break. The scoreline remained the same in the second half, but both teams had chances to win the game and if this hadn’t been an early season game in which players are bound to be a little rusty then surely we would have seen a winner.

We’re expecting a tight, tense, and close ninety minutes between these two sides on Saturday judging by their recent head to head results and their form and performances over pre-season and last weekend. with a good chance of the game ending in a draw and perhaps even a goalless one at that. Four of the last six meetings between these two sides have produced under 2.5 goals. Columbus Crew have seen four of their last six matches produced under 2.5 goals, while New England’s opening game of the season also saw just two goals scored. Four of Columbus Crew’s last six matches have ended in draws, and that combine with all of the above is why we’re predicting under 2.5 goals to be scored on Saturday and for the two sides to play out a draw.

Former Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil opened his account for New England on his debut, but the Spaniard is more likely to be a provider of goals than a scorer in the long haul. Argentina’s Sauro scored his first ever goal for Columbus Crew last weekend in his fifth season with the club since making the move from Catania. We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored on Saturday, and have backed a final score of 0-0. Both teams drew on the opening day and under 2.5 goals were scored in each game. Columbus crew have drawn the majority of their matches of late and on each occasions there has been fewer than three goals scored.
