New England Revolution vs Montreal Impact Predictions

It’s been a tough start to the season for the New England Revolution, who are struggling to get their campaign back on track after a mixed start to the season. They’ve kicked off with five defeats in their opening eight matches, but they do seem to be back on track following their weekend success. Will they be able to continue the turnaround when Montreal Impact make the trip south? The Canadians have major issues of their own to sort out, despite occupying a playoff spot going into this one.

New England are currently sitting towards the bottom of a competitive Eastern Conference. They are only ahead of New York Red Bulls and Atlanta United, two sides who have much stronger campaigns last time out. Last season saw the Revolution finish up two places outside the playoffs, while they came in a place behind Montreal Impact. That makes this midweek clash a great test for the hosts’ current standing in MLS.

After falling just shy of the playoffs last season, Montreal Impact will be pleased to have moved into the top six of the Eastern Conference after their first eight games. However, they do have to be concerned about their recent form, which has brought just one win in their last five. They’ve just been beaten with ease by Philadelphia Union, now they head to a ground where they’ve lost to nil in their last four visits. Are they going to come up short in attack in this one?

The visitors have failed to notch in their last three away trips, which has left them struggling for results on the road. They do have the second highest number of away points in MLS, but they’ve claimed eight from seven games – hardly an outstanding record. However, this week sees them facing a New England side who have lost three of their five home matches, so who will come out on top here?

We can see both sides struggling in this one, especially given the Impacts poor record at this ground. Their lack of away goals is a major issue, while they meet a New England side who have seen under 2.5 goals in six of their last seven home games. Overall they’ve seen 75% of their MLS games this term finish with fewer than three goals scored in total. The Revolution have failed to score in three of their first five home games this season, so neither side have much going on up front. Given that, we think that there’s some great value to be found on under 2.5 goals in this game.
