New England Revolution vs Vancouver Whitecaps Predictions

New England and Vancouver Whitecaps have been heading in opposite directions in recent weeks, with the improved form of Thursday’s hosts seeing them lift themselves into ninth place in the Eastern Conference while Vancouver Whitecaps have replaced Colorado Rapids at the bottom of the Western Conference table.

New England blew a two-goal lead away at DC United but still managed to come away with a decent point last weekend. Bunbury put the visitors in front in the fourth minute and Gil added a second just after the half-hour mark. Jara pulled a goal back for DC United before the break and teammate Amarikwa rescued a point for the hosts four minutes from time. Vancouver Whitecaps were outplayed in all departments at home to Sporting KC last time out, where an own goal from Adnan separated the pair at the halftime interval. Gutierrez made it 2-0 to Sporting KC in the fifty-sixth minute and in the final minute Fernandes wrapped up the points with a third goal for the visitors.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs and their form and performances heading into Thursday’s match, suggests that New England will win. New England have won three of their last six matches against Vancouver Whitecaps and are unbeaten in their last three games against the Canadians. Vancouver Whitecaps have failed to win any of their last seven matches in all competitions, while New England have won three of their last six matches and only lost once. New England have only lost one of their last five home games, and that’s why we’re backing the hosts to win on Thursday 2-1.

Carles Gil returned to the top of the New England scoring charts when the Spaniard netted his fifth league goal of the campaign last time out, while Montero leads the way for Vancouver Whitecaps with six goals. We’re confident that New England will win on Thursday and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1 to the home side. New England have form in their favour and are playing Vancouver Whitecaps at the low point of the visitors season, but the Canadians do have goals in them and will cause problems for the home defence on Thursday.
