New York Red Bulls vs FC Dallas Predictions

Both New York RB and FC Dallas were knocked out of the US Open Cup last weekend following tricky away ties, and now their focus is back on the MLS. The hosts sit fourth in the Eastern Conference and could move into the top two if they manage to take all three points on Saturday. Dallas already occupy second place in the Western Conference and have the same point total as the division leaders Sporting KC, as well as a game in hand, so this weekend presents a chance to move into first place.

The two sides back in September, when hosts Dallas came from behind twice to rescue a point against the Red Bulls. The 16,000 in attendance had to wait until two minutes from the break for the first goal of the game, as Klještan broke the deadlock and sent the visitors from New York in at half time with a one goal advantage, but before that Dallas were reduced to ten men when Hayes was shown his second yellow card of the game in the thirty-seventh minute. The hosts responded well at the start of the second half, taking just nine minutes to find an equaliser through Grana, but New York RB restored their lead three minutes later thanks to a goal from Long. Ten man Dallas had it all to do, but were given a helping hand by their guests who gave away a penalty which allowed Díaz to rescue a point in the seventy-fifth minute, the least the hosts deserved after going a man down so early on and showing great spirit.

Dallas might not have the home advantage this weekend, but they do head into Saturday’s game as the form favourites following a run of five wins and one defeat from their last six matches. New York have been a little inconsistent of late, picking up two wins, two draws, and suffering two defeats from their last six matches, so the visitors will fancy their chances of taking at least a point from their trip to the Big Apple. Two of the last three encounters between these two teams have ended in a draw and three of Dallas’ last four away games have ended in victory. The visitors have a great chance of taking something from this game as they have lost just one of their last six, while New York RB have only won twice during that same period.

Wright-Phillips continues to produce on a regular basis for hosts New York RB, scoring ten times in just eleven MLS starts this season. Lamah and Urruti both lead the way in front of goal for the visitors this season with six goals each in the league, but could find their chances limited against a Red Bulls defence that has been strong this season.

We’re confident that in form Dallas will take something from Saturday’s trip to New York and have backed the visitors with a double chance bet. Five wins from their last six and some excellent form on the road makes this bet well worth investing in, and as for a correct score, we believe this game will be tight and tense and have therefore backed a goalless draw.
