Newport County vs Bury Predictions

The end of the 2018/19 season is drawing ever closer but, although time is running out, there are still a few sides who are hoping a strong run in the final few matches will be enough to get them over the line and help them accomplish their goals. On Good Friday Newport County look to boost their faint hopes of a play-off place when they face off against a Bury side who are looking to improve their recent form and earn one of the automatic promotion places.

Newport County’s bid for the play-offs looked to be dead and buried a few weeks ago but following last weekend’s 3-0 win away at Cambridge United, they are now undefeated in their last five outings and there is once again a buzz around the hosts. County have a five point gap to overcome if they are to catch Exeter in seventh spot, but they have a game in hand over the Grecians and have conceded just one goal in those five matches, a factor which is no doubt a huge contribution to their recent improvement.

The latest side to try and upset Newport County’s promotion bid is another side who are hoping to be playing League One next season as Bury come to town. However, things have not been quite as positive for the visitors in recent weeks as, with troubles with the finances off the field no doubt a major contributing factor, they lost three games in succession before comfortably seeing off Colchester United last time out.

It is an important game for both of these sides as they both seek to boost their bid for promotion, and we think that they could both approach the match with a pretty cautious mindset. Given the strength of the hosts at the back of late and the fact that Bury have shown signs of losing that scoring touch, we think goals may be at a premium and backing there to be less than 2.5 goals scored looks to be the best way to earn a decent return.
