      Nice vs Caen Predictions

Nice are currently on a nice little run of fixtures with them unbeaten in their last four games and still in with an outside chance of qualifying for the Europa League. They sit three points off of 5th placed Marseille and this will ultimately be their aim between now and the end of the season, despite having a couple of fellow suitors. Nice drew last week, making it two games unbeaten on the road for the first time since January, and they will be pleased to continue their excellent defensive form. They currently boast the third best defence in the league with just 29 goals conceded after 32 games and are on a run of three consecutive clean sheets.

They have really picked up a reputation for being extremely pragmatic with just two of their last 14 games seeing over 2.5 goals scored. After losing Mario Balotelli at the end of January, the team were faced with a dilemma over how they were going to score goals but in stead Vieira has just improved their defence and as a result they have managed the same level of output with them preferring to grind out results against teams. Nice have won five of their last six home games and will be confident ahead of this match against bottom club Caen.

Caen are currently in a pretty undesirable position with them propping up Ligue 1 with just four points after 32 games. 11 of these were draws which is rather frustrating but generally they have just fell too short in too many matches to deserve anything more than what they’ve currently got.

They have lost six of their last seven games and have failed to score in three of their last four matches. Their only recent win was over 16th placed Monaco and that remains their only win of 2019 so far. Against some of the tougher teams like Saint-Étienne (0-5), Rennes (1-3) and Lyon (1-3) you would expect Caen to really suffer but they haven’t made the most of their winnable games as teams like Nîmes (0-2) and Angers (0-1) have had little problem beating les Caennaise.

Nice should be another team lining up to beat Caen, especially with the visitors just two points better on the road compared to the league’s worst away team, Guingamp. These teams drew 1-1 when they met last August but it was a game dominated by Nice and we’re backing that to happen again. Caen have won one game all year and with Nice so strong at the Allianz Riviera, we’re backing them to win 1-0.
