      Northampton vs MK Dons Predictions

Mid table Northampton Town head into Saturday’s home game against high flying MK Dons unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions, but have only managed draws in their last three league games. Second placed MK Dons have lost their last two games in league Two, but have a good record against Northampton Town and will view Saturday’s game as a great chance to return to winning ways.

Northampton Town took the lead in the sixth minute through Williams when they played host to Swindon Town last weekend, but despite leading at half time and restricting their guests to just two shots on target during the ninety minutes the game ended 1-1 thanks to an equaliser from Anderson shortly after the hour mark. The hosts had ten shots during the match, but poor finishing cost Northampton three points against one of their mid table rivals.

Struggling Cheltenham Town weren’t expected to cause MK Dons too many problems on Boxing Day, but a fourteenth minute strike from Atangana gave the hosts the lead. MK Dons reacted well to going behind and got themselves back onto level terms in the twenty-second minute through Aneke. However, one minute before the break Cheltenham restored their one goal advantage through Barnett and never looked back. The second half was also tight and tense, but with four minutes left on the clock Clements scored a third goal for the hosts and wrapped up all three points. MK Dons have now lost their last three on the road in all competitions and must sort out their leaky defence if they are to end their away day blues this weekend.

Former Everton youth striker Agard scored the only goal of the game when MK Dons played host to Northampton Town in October, after good work from Moore-Taylor who claimed the assist. MK Dons had 57% of the overall possession that day, more corners, and more shots than their guests and were worthy winners at the final whistle. MK Dons have now won three of their last six matches against Northampton Town, and the visitors will be hoping that trend continues after their poor away record over the last few weeks.

There isn’t much between the two sides in the form guide with Northampton picking up two wins, three draws, and one defeat from their last six matches, while MK Dons have won three and lost three during that same period. Dutch striker van Veen top scores in the league for Northampton Town this season with seven goals so far. Agard, who scored the winner when the pair met in October, has nine goals in League Two for MK Dons this season and will cause the host’s defence plenty of problems with his pace and movement this weekend.

We’re confident that both teams will score on Saturday, and have backed the visitors to claim a 3-2 win. Both teams have scored in four of the last seven meetings between the two clubs, and MK Dons have won three of the last six encounters. Both teams have scored in five of Northampton’s last six matches. MK Dons have only failed to score in one of their last six matches, while Northampton Town have scored in all of their last six matches and we can’t see either team failing to get on the scoreboard this weekend.
