Canaries may have wings clipped by Blades

Norwich started the season as one of the favourites to bounce immediately back into the Premier League but things have not quite worked out like that and they now face a battle to make the playoffs.

A run of one defeat from eight matches means they have given themselves a chance, but they come up against Sheffield United on Saturday and the Blades could stop them in their tracks.

The Canaries are three points behind Millwall, who occupy the final playoff spot, but it is worth noting that just two of their eight home victories this term have come against teams in the top half of the Championship.

Manager David Wagner will also be concerned that his team have scored just one goal in their last three matches, in which they have lost to Sunderland and drawn with Huddersfield and Stoke.

The Blades have seen leaders Burnley disappear over the horizon and the FA Cup semi-finalists need to maintain their focus as four defeats in their last seven games have given Middlesbrough a sniff of a top-two spot.

United are three points ahead of the Teessiders with a game in hand, and that should ensure they are right on their game for the trip to Norfolk, particularly as Paul Heckingbottom’s team have posted successes at Reading and Sunderland in their last two home games.

So our prediction is for the Yorkshire club to claim their 11th away win of the campaign and there is a good chance that an efficient team that tends to get the job done without many thrills and spills can triumph 1-0.
